In the 50s the Italian government decided to build a dam with the help of a Swiss electricity company. The villagers of Alt-Graun (South Tyrol) were literally flooded out of there homes in order to create the reservoir. Today tourists stop for a few minutes to take a picture of the steeple sticking out of the beautiful lake.
